About Me
My goal as a clinical psychologist is to help my clients discover meaningful, connected, and fulfilling lives through listening attentively and offering a fresh, thoughtful perspective regarding current struggles. I strive to create a collaborative, caring therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe to be honest and authentic while doing the uncomfortable and difficult work of pursuing personal growth. I have particular expertise in treating trauma and PTSD and provide therapy in English and Spanish.
My clinical approach is primarily psychodynamic, meaning that I closely consider an individual’s early life experiences and how they might shape current concerns similarly to how landscape, soil, and weather conditions influence the shape of a tree. While we cannot choose the conditions in which we grew to be, I believe that recognizing the impact of our past on our experience of the world gives us more freedom to choose how we want to live. When indicated, I also integrate evidence-based interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy.
I have trained in settings including university counseling centers, VA medical centers, community clinics, and hospitals. During my clinical internship at White River Junction VA Medical Center, I completed a VA certificate in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I completed a geropsychology minor in my graduate training and received an award for my clinical work and research with older adults, which I’ve published and presented at geropsychology conferences.
